Sheridan Museum of History

Step inside the Sheridan Museum of History and discover the stories that shaped this corner of the Yamhill Valley. What began in 2005 as a community project celebrating Sheridan’s 125th anniversary has grown into a vibrant, volunteer-run museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage of Sheridan and the surrounding area.

Housed in the carefully restored historic 1914 Sackett Building at 142 S. Bridge Street, the museum is home to a growing collection of more than 4,000 artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia. Visitors can explore recreated spaces that bring the past to life—including a schoolhouse, general store, post office, kitchen, and fire department—along with exhibits on farming, logging, early businesses, and everyday life in Sheridan. A research library with historic newspapers, school yearbooks, and local family photographs invites deeper exploration.

The museum is a private nonprofit operated entirely by dedicated local volunteers who work closely with the Yamhill County Historical Society. Admission is free (donations gratefully accepted), and the museum is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., or by appointment for private visits—just call ahead.

Monthly business meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the museum. New members are always welcome and play a vital role in keeping local history alive.
