Planning

Planning Services are provided to the City under a contractual agreement. The City Planner is scheduled to be in City Hall on Thursdays. He can be contacted at City Hall during regular business hours at 503-843-2347.

Besides assisting citizens, developers, and builders, the City Planner reviews all land use, zoning use, and building permits, and prepares reports for the Planning Commission, the City Manager, and the City Council.

 

Flooding

About 75% of the City is within the 100 year flood plain. A special review for compliance with flood plain management is required for all property and buildings in the recognized flood plain area. The City of Sheridan participates in the National Flood Insurance Program sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  A copy of the City of Sheridan Flood Information booklet is attached.

The City participates in the National Flood Insurance Program. A short explanation of the program is attached. Many homeowners retrofit their homes to decrease the possibility of flood damage. Attached is a copy of FEMA Publication 312: Six Ways to Protect Your House From Flooding. Also attached is a description of some ideas on retrofitting your house to prevent damage from flooding.
